Daniel Marks, an engineering student at North Coast TAFE, is 27 years old and is trying to find an alternative that can reduce the cost of steel jaws. Through a lot of research and experimentation, the final design of a perfect prototype design, and then using 3D printing technology , the cost has been greatly reduced. In fact, his 3D printed steel claws cost only $40.

“I did a lot of research and development design to make the steel part lasting,” he said. “Because part of it is 3D printed, the company can no longer invest in making it. We can provide the design to the supplier and then make the purchase, which saves a lot of money. I am the company's first 3D drawing. People, they saw my ability, they are very happy."

He was impressed by the employer alone, who had won the North Coast Training Award on the North Coast Apprentice and the North Coast TAFE Academy Awards. It came from India and moved to Australia in 2008. He intends to continue using 3D printing technology for product development to help the company save production costs.
