This technology involves an invisible "tracer" hybrid coating, plastic, and ink that can be used on wine corks or packaging labels to make wine retailers and consumers easily check the authenticity of the wine. With the use of QR codes and NFC anti-counterfeiting technology, it is hoped that the problem of brand-name counterfeit wines in Australia can be solved.

The tracer developed by YPB uses a rare earth inorganic material, which cannot be copied and can be incorporated into any material. Portable hand-held inspection tools can be easily identified to prove the authenticity of the product.
