UV inks have good adhesion to a variety of substrates, and can be used to print plastic films and other substrates such as polypropylene, polyethylene, and polystyrene that are difficult to print with conventional inks.

UV inks generally do not contain volatile organic compounds, so their viscosity and color do not change during the printing process, which is conducive to stable control of the printing process.

UV inks have good scratch resistance, chemical resistance, and good fastness and long-term preservation.

UV ink has better printing hiding power and good gloss, and is especially suitable for printing text and images of packaged prints.

UV inks are used in the printing industry for a short period of time, only a history of more than 20 years, and the technology needs further improvement. Some of the raw materials currently used in UV inks have a certain odor and toxicity, and some have a stimulating effect on the skin, so the use of UV ink printing packages can not be used for food packaging. The pigment of UV ink is dispersed into the intermediate of the film forming material. After being printed on the substrate and irradiated with ultraviolet rays, the prepolymer and the monomer are cross-linked into a film-forming resin under the action of a photoinitiator, so the UV ink is stable. Conventional inks only undergo physical changes throughout the printing process, changing from a liquid phase to a solid phase, ie film formation is the solvent in the ink evaporating during the drying process, leaving the pigment and film-forming resin. The UV ink is irradiated by ultraviolet rays in the printing process, and the prepolymer and the monomer are chemically changed under the action of a photoinitiator to form a film-forming resin. Of course, the pigment is uniformly dispersed into the film-forming resin. However, these chemicals in UV inks are often corrosive to the plate image layer made of ordinary PS plates.

After several small trials, trial production of UV ink PS plates was carried out at the beginning of this year.

The YP-U type UV ink PS plate produced by test volume production has been tested and improved significantly compared to the traditional YP-II type positive PS plate. The sensitivity is basically the same as that of the Fuji VPU UV ink PS plate. Such indicators have reached the desired purpose.
