Furniture standards lack regulatory label confusion

For a long time, consumer disputes caused by the actual material and origin of furniture are inconsistent with the actual situation. The author visited and found that the price of furniture in the market is very varied, and there are discrepancies between the stores and the brands, and the labels are not clear. Consumers have limited knowledge of product materials, origins, etc., and do not know much about the relevant regulations, and also create conditions for some businesses to take advantage of the loopholes.

Furniture label confusion

Recently, the author also visited some famous brand stores such as Red Star Macalline, Jimei Home, and Lan Jingli; and some small home building materials distribution centers and stores in Shilihe Home Building Materials Distribution Center and Huilongguan, and found that the labels of furniture enterprises in most stores are chaotic. The content is different and there is no uniform form.

In the well-known brand hypermarkets, the author saw that most companies' labels met the specifications. For example, in the stores such as Red Star Macalline and Real Home, brands such as Top 100, Feimei, Europa, Faenza and others all clearly indicate the product name, origin, importing country, model/ Name, specification, grade, material, retail price and other information.

At the same time, the author also found that although the label of the brand enterprise is relatively standardized, the types of information presented by the label are different in different stores. For example, some stores require the furniture unit to be marked on the label, some require the manufacturer's address, and some require the safety technology standard to be marked, and the labels of some small stores are more confusing.

The author saw in the collection of a home building materials collection market in Huilongguan. The label reads the solid wood furniture of eucalyptus. After learning, it is found that it is solid wood veneer; the label indicates the first-class product, but it cannot be confirmed by the national inspection center and other relevant institutions. The label says Italy, the country of origin, but refuses to produce a customs declaration or proof of the country of origin. There are more vague statements about filling out the solid wood framework, and some companies even fill in the name of the agent at the manufacturer. Many of these labels are randomly filled out by the manufacturers. Some sales personnel told the author that the labels are not clearly defined or regulated.

Lack of market regulation

It is understood that as early as 2002, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision has formulated relevant provisions for the labeling of furniture specifications. It is required to mark the furniture product name, product number, specification size, grade, production plant and place of origin, surface materials, etc. on the price tag. Class A and first class products must be confirmed by the national inspection center and other institutions; the production plant and site, distributor and address should be filled out in detail according to the business license. Consumers can directly understand the correctness of the price tag from the filling instructions on the back of the price tag, and can supervise the sales behavior of the merchant.

Faced with a variety of labels, Zhou Kaijun, general manager of Dezhong Feimei Furniture Beijing Co., Ltd. said that the lack of material and the blurring of the “material” column of many furniture brands have a certain relationship with the furniture materials. The classification of solid wood furniture is varied and varied, making it really difficult to label. Yang Bo, chairman of Beijing Yuan Henry Hardwood Furniture Co., Ltd., also said that the variety of redwood is complex, the identification of the place of origin is relatively difficult, and the lack of detailed identification methods and regulations is also the reason why some enterprises are not clearly marked.

In this regard, Zhu Changling, chairman of the China Furniture Association, said that the national product label has national compulsory standards, and sales of furniture must be implemented, but there is no way to check and deal with it, and it is also difficult to implement. There is a gap in the market. Ma Juni furniture representative Wang Meng also said that there are some different hard requirements in various stores, which also leads to the inconsistency of furniture labels.

â– Case

Stealing concept

The author visited a number of furniture and building materials distribution market, found that many companies not only have the phenomenon of label confusion, but also the concept of stealing and ambiguity. In the Shilihe furniture building materials distribution market, the author saw in a solid wood furniture store that the price of a wine cabinet is written as a first class of eucalyptus, all solid wood furniture, the store sales staff said that the product is 100% solid wood furniture . However, the author found that the color of the side panels and drawers of the wine cabinet and the wood pattern were significantly different from the surface. The salesperson later explained that the wine cabinet is made of wood and wood and is made of 80% solid wood and 20%. According to the author's understanding, according to national standards, such furniture can be called solid wood furniture, but not "all solid wood furniture."

Rule dead angle

1, there are standards not implemented

Even though the normative labeling standards have been established, after nearly a decade, the furniture market label is still not standardized. On the whole, in addition to the product material concept and the title confusion, the implementation is not strong.

Because most of the shopping guides are not clear about the concept of solid wood furniture, and most companies and shopping guides deliberately confuse the concept in order to cater to consumer psychology. There are many kinds of solid wood furniture and mahogany furniture, and the relevant identification methods and rules and regulations have not kept up. Therefore, there are many problems when implementing the label, which has led many companies to fill in the label when they fill out the label.

2. Limited supervision

In terms of label supervision, the relevant associations believe that it should be the technical supervision department, and the enterprise said that the industry and commerce department is conducting relevant spot checks.

At present, the Beijing Municipal Administration of Industry and Commerce is mainly responsible for the inspection of label specifications. However, due to the large furniture market, numerous stores, numerous enterprises and a wide variety of furniture, the difficulty of inspection has increased. The industrial and commercial departments mainly focus on spot checks, which makes the supervision and The depth is limited.

Many home building materials distribution markets have not played a regulatory role, and they have ignored the unregulated labels of manufacturers, and have also encouraged some manufacturers to act in accordance with regulations. Although the brand stores have played a strict role in the control and supervision, but due to their different requirements, the label information is not uniform, the industrial and commercial departments also lack coordination management during the sampling.

3. Lack of consumer information

Enterprises will also use the consumer's less cognition and the information obtained by the incomplete weakness to camouflage the label. For example, the salesperson claimed that the furniture was made of “Indian sacred tree” Bodhi wood and the unique “Populus thorn root” on the small town of Cabriti, Italy. In fact, the so-called “Bodhi wood” is only bonded by solidified glue. The ordinary wood is made, and the "white poplar root" is just a polymer resin material. Many consumers do not understand the relevant information, and there is no clear concept for mahogany, solid wood, and even panel furniture, and they do not know much about the relevant national standards.

Industry statement

Standard unregulated

Zhu Changling, chairman of the China Furniture Association, said that the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision had formulated relevant regulations as early as 2002. The furniture product labeling has national compulsory standards, and enterprises and stores selling furniture must be implemented. However, as far as I know, there is no way to check and deal with it. It is not clear which department is responsible for the inspection and spot check. At the same time, it is difficult to implement it. There is a gap in the market.

There is an inconsistency in the price tag of different stores in a store, and the industry and commerce department should come forward to coordinate management. For consumers, to protect their own rights and interests, it is not enough to simply look at the price tag. It is best to write “materials” and other items into the articles when signing the contract. If there is a problem, the rights will be well documented and reasonable. Say.

The store regulations are not uniform

"The label is not uniform" is related to the execution, in addition to the execution. The rules of each brand store are different, but they all conform to the national regulations, which also leads to the inconsistency of the price tag. In addition, the materials such as solid wood and mahogany are complicated, and it is difficult to implement. However, as a furniture manufacturer, you will know what materials you are using, and label the materials according to the facts, which reflects the integrity of the company.
