Magic scent screen printing standard

The fragrance printing ink contained in the fragrance printing ink is coarse and can not endure excessive printing pressure. Therefore, the screen printing process is mainly used.

In everyday life, when you open a scented greeting card sent by a friend, a scent from your nose makes you feel warm, happy, and gracious; when you pick up a perfume ad, you don’t need to spray the perfume. Exudes aroma; when you face a variety of nice dishes and realistic patterns on the beautiful recipes, you can smell the aroma of the dish with your hand and it will make you feel more comfortable. Pleasure.

With the development of the market economy and the improvement of people’s living standards, fragrance printing has been widely used in prints that integrate visual and olfactory effects, such as magazines, advertisements, postcards, greeting cards, calendars, cosmetics, and food. In fact, if children's books are printed with scented inks, the combination of visual and olfactory organics can also increase children's reading interest. The liquid crystal ink is added to the fragrance printing, and the printed flower pattern will show different colors with the changes of the season. Touching by hand will release the fragrance of various flowers, which is the charm of the fragrance printing.

The aroma printing ink contains a relatively large number of aroma capsules, and cannot withstand excessive printing pressure. Therefore, the aroma print is mainly based on a screen printing process, and occasionally gravure printing and flexographic printing are used.

The composition and principle of fragrance screen printing ink

The ink used for fragrance printing is composed of flavor capsules, binders, pigments, and other additives. The fragrance capsule is based on the principle of emulsification, and the perfume core material is dispersed in an aqueous phase of a hydrophilic natural or synthetic polymer resin, such as gelatin, gum arabic, polyvinyl alcohol, etc., and the entire system is dispersed by stirring. After that, through the change of temperature, and changing the pH or adding salt and second polymers such as formaldehyde and alum, a polymerization reaction occurs at the interface between the aqueous phase and the oil phase, and a shell substance is precipitated, which is dispersed and adsorbed on the fragrance droplets. Surrounding the particles thus forms a shell, ie a polymer film that surrounds the surface of the oil droplets, usually called the wall material of a fragrance capsule. The perfume is coated in a film and gel-cured to form a capsule, finally obtaining a microcapsule containing a perfume. The diameter of the capsule is 1030mm and the wall thickness is about 1mm.

When the surface of the print is gently rubbed, the capsules in the ink are broken, and the perfume enclosed in the capsule is scattered and temporarily floats in the air to generate a fragrance. Due to the protection of sachets, this fragrance can be stored for a long time. As long as you don't break the sachet, you can keep it for years. It is also worth noting that since the sachet is very tiny, the 1030 μm diameter ensures that the amount of contact and inhalation is minimal when it is wiped by hand, and does not cause irritation to the skin and respiratory tract.

Selection of aroma printing inks

The premise of printing with a fragrance printing ink is that the printed image must be heavier in color, and the printed image area must be as large as possible. In this way, the surface of the paper can be printed with micro-capsules that can exert a scent. Because the aroma concentration of the scented print depends on how many scented microcapsules are printed on the print.

A better and more effective method is to apply a layer of scented microcapsule oily polish to the surface of the print. The commonly used method is to coat the printed image with a printing unit. In the coating process, first, it is necessary to ensure a sufficient amount of coating, but also must have a good measure of dusting, otherwise, there will be general oily glazing caused by the wet pressing dry printing and adhesion and other defects . How much of the coating amount of paper flavors can be easily visually checked. Just make a decision by carefully checking the smoothness and appearance gloss of the varnish coating.

One of the prerequisites for performing aroma printing is that ink suppliers must provide a range of additional services. First of all, ink suppliers have extensive practical experience with offset printing processes and can designate a fragrance olein supplier that is responsible for the microencapsulation of flavor olein and incorporate microcapsules into printing inks, polishes or dispersion coatings. Second, it also requires the ink supplier to understand and be responsible for adjusting the ink viscosity to suit the printing system used. In addition, after completing the above work, proofing must also be performed on the printing press.

In fact, not every flavor and every fragrance is suitable for making microcapsules. For example, the scent of leather, chocolate or coffee is a difficult-to-replicate fragrance. Suppliers of fragrance inks must conduct fragrance encapsulation tests during the design phase of fragrance printing. When aroma printing is performed, in addition to performing preliminary tests on a printing press exclusively for testing, field proofing must also be performed on a printing machine that is to be subjected to aroma printing. Otherwise, once it is put into actual printing production, the printing effect will not meet the expected requirements and will cause major problems. loss.

The taste of the paper printing ink itself affects the scent printing effect. Therefore, in the case of aroma printing, inks with a small taste should be selected and tested on paper and ink. In addition, additives in printing inks may change the expected scent of the prints due to volatilization, so care must be taken when performing scent printing.

The types of spices currently used in the aroma printing market are mainly fruity: green apples, cherries, blue berries, strawberries, watermelons, etc.; flowers and plants: artichokes, cosmos, camellia, cherry blossoms, camellia, etc.; beverages and food categories: whiskey , cocoa tea, mustard, curry, etc.; other categories: mosquito coils, cedarwood, cinnamon, mint and so on.

Silkscreen printing printability

Because the microcapsule particles in the aroma ink are relatively thick, when selecting the screen, a nylon single screen with good permeability should be selected, and the opening degree should be larger, the number of meshes is about 150 mesh. The squeegee is generally made of urethane rubber material. The squeegee has no pores, corrosion resistance and stable volume.

Screen printing has higher ink viscosity requirements, and the ideal viscosity value is about 2Pa.s. The scented ink should be adjusted for viscosity before screen printing. It is best measured with a viscometer, and then a certain amount of diluent is weighed to give it a suitable viscosity.

The speed of the printing of the fragrance ink cannot be too fast, so that the squeegee friction generates too much heat and the temperature is too high, causing the microcapsule particles to break. The printing speed mentioned here refers to the speed of the ink knife when printing. In order to ensure quality, the knife speed should be compatible with the speed of ink filling and ink release. The knife speed is too slow, which affects the production speed. If the knife speed is too fast, it will cause insufficient filling of ink, incomplete printing, or incapability of ink release, and the excessively long adhesive section of the ink knife will affect the printing quality.

The ink filling and ink release speeds are related to the size of the external force, the mesh size, and the rheological properties of the ink. The ink knife passes through the aperture M at a speed V. The time required should be equal to the time when the ink passes through the screen thickness F from top to bottom, that is: M/V=F/V1, where V1 is the flow rate of the ink in the mesh. If the aperture M of the mesh is known, the shear rate of the ink can be found: S = V1/(M/2) = 2FV/M2 where S represents the inherent rheological properties of the ink and determines the amount of ink flow. Regardless of the combination of screen and knife speed, the same ink flow rate can be guaranteed as long as the shear rate remains constant. It can be seen that using this formula, the tool speed can be changed. For scent screen printing, in order to adapt the knife speed to the speed of ink filling and ink release, and to obtain good printing quality, under the condition that the above relationship is satisfied, an appropriate S value should be selected to ensure that the microcapsules are not heated. And it broke.

Scented screen printing pressure can not be too large, you can try to find the right pressure. In the test printing process, in addition to paying attention to whether the ink on the plate after the scraping plate is even or not, it is also necessary to observe whether the microcapsules are broken and whether there is any fragrance floating out.

The drying temperature of the scent screen printing ink should not be too high, otherwise the microcapsules will break and cannot be dried with ultraviolet rays. We believe that the ideal drying method is evaporation drying. Properly increasing the drying temperature and increasing the air flow rate can increase the drying speed of the ink layer. Since the gas density of the screen printing ink solvent is greater than the density of the air, the effect of blowing air from the lower part when blowing air to the drying table is good.
